I guess this should go here. With all the bad stuff going on with large language models it’s nice to see good stuff in connection with machine learning. I have noticed lately that I can select a foreign language text and it does a darn good job of translating it into English. Google translate used to be the best and that was rather marginal. It’s great to see a translation come out apparently accurate and written as if an English speaker wrote it.
(FYI Asahi Linux is the Japan-based open source project bringing full ARM Linux to Apple Silicon. Lina is doing the M1/M2 iGPU drivers reverse engineering from scratch—Apple gives neither info nor aid in that endeavor.)
