I can imagine that for many full hd on 15" is a con, but for me it is a pro (battery life related, especially compared to 4k). Though ~2.5k might be a good middleground option.

I’m old, and my eyesight isn’t what it was, but I’m frankly baffled that anyone finds 1920 x1080 acceptable on anything but the smallest of displays/devices.

I think it is because I tend to keep an arm length distance to laptops (okay maybe a bit less but you get the idea).
