I took the initiative to revive @SteveS’s thread on TPCR, starting with a fascinating article about quantum batteries and superabsorption.

Those scientists are making batteries with hemp fibers, ‘better than graphene’,

but also with all flavours of biowaste - from peat moss to eggs. Most recently, they turned banana peel into batteries.

Apparently, we are getting closer to this :grin::

Proton based battery…

May replace hydrogen fuel cell and also lithium-ion batteries, while beeing cheap to produce and much safier than both… Interesting…

Good find!
It looks like they may have at least partially solved the relatively fast degradation issues (limited number of charge/recharge cycles) which have kept them back to this point.
