My Staedtler Norris Digital has been broken for a few years now (EMR cartridge has fallen out and doesn’t work) and a Staedtler Norris Digital Jumbo rubber/eraser has also become unglued. So I’ve eventually decided to teardown the tip cartridge and compare it to the rubber/eraser one. The latter I have not brutalised as it still works.
Tip cartridge (with tip): 65mm
Tip cartridge (without tip): 63mm
Rubber/eraser cartridge (with rubber/eraser): 66mm
Tip assembly (no casing and sled with tip): 55mm
Tip assembly (no casing without tip, with sled): 51.75mm?
Tip assembly (no casing without tip and sled): 50.75mm?
Lower tip assembly (with tip): 31mm
Lower tip assembly (without tip): 28mm
PCB (upper tip assembly): 27.75mm? N.B. About 4mm inserts into the lower assembly
PCB sled: 28mm (29mm with tabs)
Contact point between lower tip assembly and PCB
Excess casing beyond end of PCB (while in casing): 10mm
Excess casing at tip: 1mm
Excess sled beyond end of PCB: 1mm
Staedtler tip: 19mm
‘Bulb/knob’ at top of cartridge (tip and rubber/eraser): 3mm

And as a treat for making it to the end, here’s a sneak peak at how the LAMY/Staedtler Frankenpen I’m working on is going.
All I can say is dam(n) German engineering!
