Staedtler Norris Digital EMR Teardown

My Staedtler Norris Digital has been broken for a few years now (EMR cartridge has fallen out and doesn’t work) and a Staedtler Norris Digital Jumbo rubber/eraser has also become unglued. So I’ve eventually decided to teardown the tip cartridge and compare it to the rubber/eraser one. The latter I have not brutalised as it still works.

And as a treat for making it to the end, here’s a sneak peak at how the LAMY/Staedtler Frankenpen I’m working on is going.

All I can say is dam(n) German engineering! :de:

Nice teardown. Impressive.

Thanks!

It was broken so I thought I might as well, and I couldn’t find any other photos of the innards online.

I need a new cutting mat though as that is a disgrace. I accidently left it in a hot car and now it’s permanently warped. Plus stained with black paint. And superglue. And with notches in it where I accidently stabbed it…

Has anyone else been tracking prices on these?

They’re out of stock just about everywhere, and prices have been creeping up — I’d really like to get a replacement black and yellow one (non-jumbo) as a third spare.

Wow, $82 used on Amazon. Temporary shortage or discontinuation I wonder. :vb-scratch:

Looks like places such as this still have new stock but I can’t vouch for them.

Good luck.

I can’t remember how much they were, but it doesn’t seem that much more. The Amazon price tracker I use says that they’ve remained about the same.

There’s the Chromebook version out there that is just the same in different colours.

And the Mitsubishi Hi-uni DIGITAL is the same, just in maroon.
