Enabling Lenovo Tech Lust with $1,900 price cut

Remember the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold (13.3 inch screen) that appeared in 2021, and starting about $2,800?

They’re running a “black Friday” sale (clearing out inventory before the X1 Fold 16 inch goes live?) for $999, which includes keyboard and pen.

Ok, I’m seriously tempted, even though I know it’s not what I really want or need. It’s just fun.

I think this is the first device on new OR old TPCR that got not one, but two separate threads just to mention a discount. Clearly a desirable item!

Plan on getting one, @Bishop ? Looking forward to your review.

My bad. I missed the other one.

Had it in the cart. Cheaper than a SGZF4, dry run for a NEO experience. BUT …

  • only 8 GB of RAM
  • no LTE option
  • basically a Surface Go 3 chipset
    EDIT:
  • basically same weight as SP8

My SP8 is under utilized as it is. Even I couldn’t fabricate a use case to justify it. It does LOOK cool, though.

Pass.

I say the more threads the marrier!

Woah there! Are you sure you want to get even more married? To Bishop no less?!

That took me a minute. I’ll leave it as is so the joke stands.

FYI The fold X1 Gen 2 is now live in Japan starting at 4100 USD (600k JPY) including 9% discount.

And a 100 000 yen extra to go from i5 to i7? Greedy grubby comes to mind.

Would even executives waste that much money on a device?
